In this article, we go through how to use the Cross-Checking feature on your reference reports.
To learn more or activate this feature, please contact your Customer Success Manager or Refapp support.
What is the Cross-Checking Feature?
The Cross-Checking feature compares the candidate’s provided information about their relationship with the reference person’s perspective, highlighting any differences in information directly in the reference report. The feature becomes available within the project when you have enabled the "Request Details on Relationship from candidates and refereed" setting.
This article explains how to enable the setting "Requesting Details on Relationships from candidates and referees."
Candidate's Input on Relationship Information
When your project is set up with "Request Details on Relationship from candidates and referees," candidates, as part of their reference request, will be asked to provide the following information regarding their relationship with the referee:
- Type of relationship (manager, colleague, friend, etc.)
- Company or organization where they worked together
- Candidate’s role and duties
- Length of their working relationship
- The period when they worked together
Referee’s Opportunity to Review and Correct
When the referee receives the reference form via email or SMS and opens it, they will see a relationship information block before the reference questions start. The referee can review the candidate's information and make necessary changes.
Displaying Corrections in the Reference Report
If the referee modifies any of the relationship information, this will be marked with a yellow warning triangle in the reference report. By hovering over the warning triangle, you can view the original information provided by the candidate.
Examples of Corrections Displayed in the Reference Report:
- The candidate states that the referee was their manager, but the referee indicates they were colleagues.
- The candidate states they worked together for two years, while the referee states they worked together for one year.
- The candidate indicates they were a permanent employee, while the referee states they worked through a staffing agency.
The Cross-Checking feature helps you quickly gain an overview of any differences between the candidate’s and referee’s information, creating a more reliable and transparent basis for decision-making.
