How long are the reference checks saved in Refapp?
Retention time in Refapp defines how long personal data is stored in the system before it is automatically deleted. The standard retention period is 24 months, though this can vary between companies depending on their own routines and preferences.
This means that information collected during the reference checking process, such as candidate details and answers from referees, is stored in Refapp for the applicable retention period. The retention period starts when the candidate information is added to Refapp. Once the retention period has expired, the data is automatically deleted from the system.
For example, with a 24-month retention period, the candidate data and reference report will be deleted 24 months after the candidate information was added to Refapp, regardless of when the reference check was completed or when the referee submitted their answers.
Each company using Refapp specifies its own retention period, and this information is included in their privacy policy. If you need to update your company's retention period setting, this can be done by an account administrator in your Refapp account settings. Both candidates and referees can see the applicable retention period in the privacy policy linked in the reference check process, so everyone knows how long their data will be stored.
If your company receives a request to delete any information, or if you have specific questions about your company's retention time, contact support@refapp.com for assistance.
