How does it work when a referee wants to be called instead of answering digitally?
When responding to a reference request, the reference can choose whether they would prefer to schedule a reference call with you. In this article, you can see what this process looks like.
If a reference does not want to answer the reference questions digitally, they can choose to be called instead. The reference will then have the opportunity to suggest times for a reference call directly in Refapp.
1. The referee opens the email asking them to provide references and clicks on the link I would rather be called.
2. The reference is then taken to a calendar booking view, where they can suggest times that work for a reference call.

3. You receive an email with he subject line "Requesting a reference check call for the process", times suggested by the reference. You can also find the suggested times in the reference's activity log in Refapp.
To accept one of the suggested times, click the time that works for you, either in the email or in Refapp. If none of the suggested times work, you can instead suggest alternative times.

4. Once a time has been accepted, the reference call is booked. Both you and the reference receive a calendar invitation by email.
The calendar invitation includes a link that takes you directly to Refapp, where you can take notes and record the answers during the reference call.

Take notes from the reference call directly in Refapp
You can also go directly to the candidate's profile in Refapp and open the reference's profile. When a reference call has been booked, the Answer yourself option will be displayed.
Click Answer yourself to open the questions and record the answers from the reference call directly in Refapp.

Note: The Answer yourself option is only displayed when a reference call has been booked.
This allows you to easily document the entire reference call directly in Refapp, whether you access it through the calendar invitation or the candidate's profile.
💡 When you record the answers directly in Refapp, they are automatically saved and included in the candidate's consolidated reference report together with the other reference responses.
