How do Refapp's automatic reminders work?

Refapp sends out automatic reminders to candidates and referees if they haven't replied in a certain time. Here's a walkthrough of how they work.

Automated reminders are the default for all users but are optional, and you can turn them off inside your personal profile settings. To access the settings, you press your profile in the right corner and go into My profile. You have the option to turn off the function for candidates, referees, or both depending on your preference.

Reminders to referees

If the referee hasn't answered the reference questions in 24 hours, the system sends out an automated reminder. An administrator is able to change this interval to 48 or 72 hours in the company settings; see this article for more information.  The reminders are set to be sent out either at 8 am or 4 pm, depending on when the first communication was sent out. If they haven't replied after another 24/48/72 hours, a final reminder is sent out.

Reminders to candidates

If the candidate doesn't submit their referees in 24 hours, the system sends out an automated reminder. The reminders are set to be sent out either at 8 am or 4 pm, depending on when the first referee request was sent out.

When all automated reminders have been sent out to a referee, and they still haven't answered, the system sends out an email to the candidate asking them to remind their referees to answer the reference questions.

Once the final automatic reminder is sent out, you're able to send out the reminder manually. To see how, see this article.
